About
The University of Fitness is a resource dedicated to helping people educate themselves about the best ways to reach their fitness goals. Whether your goals are aesthetic or athletic, involve fat loss or muscle gain, or address nutrition or training, the University of Fitness aims to help you succeed by eliminating the nonsense that clogs the fitness mainstream and providing information that can get you real results.
It’s easy to notice the same guys and girls in the gym, time after time, that look the same day after day. It’s even easier to turn into one of those guys. On the other end, people want miracle pills that will get you “slim in seven days!” or “muscled in a month”. Results don’t come overnight, but they should come if you are putting in the work!
To be honest, getting in shape, whether it involves getting slim, muscular, or better at your sport isn’t easy. It WILL require some effort. But it shouldn’t be made harder by having to spend time looking for the right way to actually put in that effort. That’s why the University of Fitness is here.
Who am I to tell you what’s right or wrong?
Now for the million dollar question: what makes my advice any more credible than the next guy’s? As with many people, I decided one day that enough was enough, and I was going to get in shape if it was the last thing I did. And, as with many people, I didn’t get very far. Not the first time. Or the second or third time. You see, most commonly, health kicks start strong and fade away in weeks if not days or, you know who you are, minutes. But then I got it right.
What changed? I learned. Now I’ve got a confession: I’m a nerd. Actually, I’m a HUGE nerd. So I did what nerds do best and I researched the crap out of fitness and how to get to where I wanted to be. I managed to avoid the failures and pitfalls that many encounter and actually get in shape, EFFICIENTLY!
Being the aforementioned nerd, I actually liked learning more and more about health [I sure hope so, considering I plan on becoming a doctor]. However, I recognize that I’m weird and not everyone’s idea of “fun” is reading a physiology article or a biomechanics books. It took me time and effort to find out what I did, and how to get my training and nutrition right, and not everyone has that inner geek.
This is why I decided to compile the useful information I’ve learned and share it with you. And the fact is, I’ve used the methods that actually work. Being a nerd, I can usually see bullshit when I see it in fitness science, so I’ve also developed an eye for ideas that are total crap and the reasons they may seem legitimate and even WORK at first.
About the Author
My name is Yash and I am currently studying Genetics and a few other cool things like Classics and Psychology, and plan to attend med school in a couple years. I enjoy sports and playing music among other hobbies. I stay pretty active through playing rugby [though what I do is "playing" the sport in only the loosest interpretation of the word] and being a volunteer firefighter. I also spend more time and effort expanding my knowledge about health and fitness than I do on my actual academic endeavors in school, which doesn’t quite work out for my academic success, but does sort of pay off for you, I guess.
